No one inspired Lane more than his dad, Clyde Frost.
Clyde rode bareback, saddle broncs, and did some steer wrestling. He won many major rodeos such as Denver, CO, Ogden, UT, Little Rock, AR, San Angelo, TX, and Kankakee, IL. The National Finals Rodeo started in 1959 in Dallas, TX. Then was moved to Las Angeles, CA in 1962. Clyde qualified for 5 out of the first 6 Finals 1959,1960, 1962, 1963, and 1964. Two of those years he made it to the NFR in both Bareback & Saddle Bronc 1962 and 1964.
