Lanes World


Lane's life, and rodeo career, took him to many places across the United States.
This map marks where special events in Lane's life took place.
1-Lane is born on Oct. 12, 1963 in La Junta, CO., near his grandparents home in Kim, CO.
2-His parents take him home to Lapoint, UT., and later move 20 miles to Vernal, UT.
3-In 1978, the Frosts move to Lane, OK., to escape Utah's harsh winters.
4-Lane wins the Bull Riding Championship in the National High School
   Rodeo Association Finals held in Douglas, WY.
5-He enters "Super Bull" in Del Rio, TX., and gets the "Tough Luck Award".
6-Lane attends the National Rodeo Finals for the first time in 1984, which is the last year
   they were held in Oklahoma City.
7-Kellie and Lane marry on Jan 5, 1985, at United Methodist Church in Quanah, TX.
8-Lane returns to "Super Bull" at Del Rio in 1985 and wins the Championship.
9-Lane goes to the 1985 Finals in Las Vegas, and finished 3rd in world standings.
10-Lane and Tuff Hedeman are co-champions at "Super Bull" in 1986.
11-In 1986 he competes in "The World's Toughest Rodeo" in Oklahoma City, OK.
12-In the 1986 Finals in Las Vegas, Lane is the  NFR Average winner, and places third
     in the world standings.
13-In Sept. of 1987, Lane wins the bull riding at the "Pendleton Round-Up", even though
     he suffered a broken collarbone in August.
14-Lane also competes in the Oklahoma State Fair in September, 1987.
15-Lane becomes the 1987 World Champion Bull Rider at the National Rodeo Finals in
     Las Vegas, NV.
16-In Feb. 1988, Lane competes in the Olympics, held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
17-Match 1 of 7 with Red Rock in Red Bluff, CA., on April 17, 1988. Red Rock wins.
18-Match 2 of 7 held in Clovis, CA.., on April 24, 1988. Red Rock wins again.
19-Match 3 of 7 in Redding, CA., on May 20, 1988. Lane stays on and is the first one
     to ever complete a 8 second ride on Red Rock. Score now Red Rock-2, Lane-1.
20-Match 4 of 7 in Livermore, CA., on June 11, 1988. Lane covers Red Rock again, and
     the score is now tied.
21-Match 5 of 7 is held the next day, June 12, 1988 in Sisters, OR. Lane stays on and the
     score is now Red Rock-2, Lane Frost-3.
22-Match 6 of 7 in St Paul, OR., on July 4, 1988. Red Rock ties the score 3 to 3 when he
     bucks Lane off.
23-Match 7 of 7 held in Spanish Fork, UT. on July 25, 1988. Lane stays on and wins the
     match 4 to 3!
24-Lane and Tuff Hedeman go to Hawaii to ride in a Hawaiian Professional Rodeo.
25-Lane helps to organize the first "Bullmania-Tribute to Freckles Brown" in Guthrie, OK.
     in early 1989.
26-Lane is killed in Cheyenne, WY. on July 30, 1989 after successfully riding his third
     bull at Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo.
27-Lane is buried in Hugo, OK., next to his friend Freckles Brown, on August 2, 1989.
